I love what A Southern Lady’s Ramblings has done here ,turning her shashbook into a calendar format for daily journaling.
At one point, I scored a stack of kids books free from a book sale to make my daily journals but I haven’t gotten around to using them yet. Kids books are usually 30-40 pages long, and the page format is usually smaller yet large enough for wordy ol’ me, so I was thinking they could easily be used for a page per day journaling.
Moving to the top of the To Do List this summer. Maybe something I could encourage the kids to do,too.

It’s been a looooong time since I’ve been a teenager in my zine prime and yet the pull to make some zines again is so strong lately.
How to Prepare an Old Book for Altering or Art Journaling – Art Journalist | Art Journalist
This is a great tutorial on readying an old book to use for an art journal. I find that children’s books are the best for art journals. They’re usually really easy to find at yard sales and book sales. I tend to grab the ones that make me think the original printing of the book was a waste of paper and it really needs a better life. You know what I mean. There is some amazingly awful books in the kiddie lit genre!
My library also has a constant free box in their lobby. It’s a good place to snag art journaling books and supplies.
