Thrifty Thursday: Never underestimate the power of a woman

You know what I love about thrift stores? Well, a lot of things but for one, I can find slightly odd, rare gems like this t-shirt….

If you’re old like me, you recognize the iron on lettering from the 70s. Man, I loved those things. Someone else did, too. They liked them so much they added THSI on the back:

So, basically….the person who owned this was the ultimate geek girl, 70’s style. I love when I buy the past items of a long lost soul sister.

Related sidenote: The theme from Close Encounters is the only thing I can play on the piano.

Also last week, I scored these :

I’m stashing the top two away for my little guy’s birthday in May. The Eric Carle game is still sealed. They were 50¢ each! Major score.

The full version of Labyrinth is one of our favorite family games but my 7 year old isn’t quite old enough yet ,so I thought we would try this one.

  1. I scored a TON of books at the thrift store a week or so before xmas. They sell them 5 for $.99, and they had just filled a HUGE bin with a TON of kids books. I spent who knows how long digging through that bin, and when all was said and done, I had bought 55 books. All for the low, LOW price of only $11. Some of them I gave as holiday gifts, and the rest are just going to be added to the boys’ collection. 🙂
That Eric Carle game is indeed a serious score. Nice one.
